Blog Post #2        th

With so many business books on the market , it sometimes gets overwhelming to know what to read that will actually help you move your business forward . Here is a list of my few favorite authors and their books whose thinking, philosophy and call to action is in sync with those of us who are committed to standing for a transformed  business world. These are the books that are recommended time and again.

Napoleon Hill: Think and Grow Rich

Think and Grow Rich by Napolean Hill

Think and Grow Rich by Napolean Hill

Written in 1937, Think and Grow Rich has been called the “Granddaddy of All Motivational Literature.”  Author Napoleon Hill was one of the first authors to study and write about “What makes a winner?     Studying the most successful people of his time including  Andrew Carnegie, Thomas Edison, Henry Ford, and other millionaires of his generation the book  illustrates his “Law of Success” philosophy.

The original version is a must read for anyone who want really understand how successful people achieved their success in their career or in life.  This book was required reading when I was in a public speaking Master Class, and remains one of my favorite books of all times

Think and Grow Rich Quotes I Love

– “The starting point of all achievement is DESIRE. Keep this constantly in mind. Weak desire brings weak results, just as a small fire makes a small amount of heat.”

  • “You are the master of your destiny. You can influence, direct and control your own environment. You can make your life what you want it to be.”
  •  “Set your mind on a definite goal and observe how quickly the world stands aside to let you pass.”
  •  “A quitter never wins-and-a winner never quits.”
  •  “I will eliminate hatred, envy, jealousy, selfishness, and cynicism, by developing love for all humanity, because I know that a negative attitude toward others can never bring me success. I will cause others to believe in me, because I will believe in them, and in myself.”
  •  “Remember, too, that all who succeed in life get off to a bad start, and pass through many heartbreaking struggles before they “arrive”. The turning point in the lives of those who succeed usually comes at some moment of crisis, through which they are introduced to their “other selves”.”

You have no credibility (yet)  (By Seth Grodin )

except: You believe you have a great idea, a hit record, a press release worth running, a company worth funding. You know that the customer should use your limited-offer discount code, that the sponsor should run an ad, that the admissions office should let you in. You know that the fast-growing company should hire you, and you’re ready to throw your (excellent) resume over the transom.

The 91st Day: Running A Business Like A Momentumpreneur – by Rhonda Vigeant LT4 LA

BLOGPOST #1

cropped-mountain-peak.jpg

As we continue standing for a transformed world beyond our leadership journey, many of us have declared that we want to start or grow a business, non-profit, or charity.  This takes not only  leadership skills , but some basic business resources to support our goals so that we can maximize our results and be our highest possibility.

Over the past several decades the word Entrepreneur has become the gold standard for small businesses and  thought leaders  who have great ideas. Once  a term that referred only to business leaders in history that lead the worlds most powerful corporations and business enterprises, the modern entrepreneur is often an individual  that has a niche  idea, brand, or concept.  They have  taken  their idea from good to great, and  developed a  loyal fan base or following. By definition an entrepreneur is a  person who organizes and manages any enterprise, especially a business, usually with considerable initiative and risk. Entrepreneurship is really about looking at the world differently.  We live a world of endless possibilities, and have the opportunity to move, touch and inspire everyone we connect with. Entrepreneurs are often individuals  (solopreneurs) who work alone or lead small teams that change the world in a big way.

Having run a small business that supports the filmmaking and archival communities for 35  years , the  basic principles of entrepreneurship have become second nature to me. These include taking  a risk, meeting a deadline, having integrity, honesty and authenticity in the work I provide. As I have continued on my Momentum Education journey I have learned some new  ways of being that will help me to be at MY highest possibility in many areas of my life. As a business owner, team leader and speaker/author/messenger,  applying the  distinctions that have empowered me to stand for a transformed are now also part of how I run my business.  Through this, I look at myself transformed from the way I have showed up in the business community, with my clients, colleagues.  and  most definitely to my work team.   I consider myself  a Momentumpreneur.

So what is a Momentumpreneur? For me  Momentumpreneurs  are  people creating businesses , products, services and brands  that are not just operating from honesty and integrity , but being their highest possibility  and standing for a transformed world.   A world where people  create a business culture that is  loving,  giving, connected, authentic, vulnerable, honest, transparent and lifting people as they climb. A Momentumpreneur is creating  a business culture that is living in committed action, applying the distinctions of daily living to all parts of their business  and their life inside and outside the workplace.

This got me thinking about the impact that  can be made in the business community.  Imagine a world where  business leaders have a contract and  apply the distinctions and ways of being that we have learned through  Momentum Education to their businesses?   Whether we are talking about  a Fortune 500 company with thousands of employees, a Government Agency,  a small family run business,  a non-profit or an individual  creating a personal brand,  the world would be transformed in countless ways affecting billions of people if business leaders had a contract and were applying the distinction and principles of  committed actions as taught through Momentum Education .

Many people who have been in Momentum LT declared on their LOA’s that they wanted to start, grow, or change their  business. or career.  Like most goals that we have had to figure out during our Leadership journey, some things we tried just worked better than others.

As a person who wants to run their business or brand like a  Momentumpreneur, there are many hundreds of resources available to us.  In  support of people embarking this journey  of Momentempreneurship  it would be useful  to take a look at some of the resources I have found that have been invaluable to be in growing and sustaining a busines.  Many powerful thought leaders  have messages very much in line with the work Momemtum Graduates have experienced in our course.  I share these resources with you here. As you read this list, I would love for you to leave a comment , and of course add additional suggestions for resources, books, or workshops that will support a vision of business leaders who are Momentumpreneurs.
